Chinese Five Dragon Plate

This beautiful plate, with a diameter of 22 cm, depicting five flying dragons and many flowers, was produced in the 1980s. After the Chinese communists, led by Mao Zedong, took control of the country from the Nationalists in 1949, previously privately owned companies became state-owned and began producing porcelain in Jingdezhen for export. However, this did not result in a break from traditional styles and qualities that were present during the Emperor’s era.
